Chilliwack Lake is a popular destination for paddle boarding and kayaking, offering spectacular mountain views with old-growth forested slopes and alpine ridges.
Chilliwack Lake, known for its valley-bottom setting, is surrounded by 40 km of hiking trails near its campgrounds. These trails provide access to several other lakes, including Greendrop, Lindeman, Flora, and Radium Lakes. Paddle boarding and kayaking are both popular at the main beach near the park entrance, as well as at several launch points along the forest service road.
Paddle Boarding at Chilliwack Lake
Chilliwack Lake provides access to a small beachfront with cool, glacial-fed waters. The true charm of the lake is best enjoyed on a paddle board, where you can safely navigate along the shore and marvel at the crystal-clear blue waters beneath you. Grab your paddle board rental and take in the expansive landscape while gliding peacefully across the water. Don’t forget to bring binoculars to spot mountain goats and other wildlife in the surrounding forested mountains.
It is safest to stay along the shore when paddle boarding or kayaking as severe winds occur frequently in the afternoon and venturing deep into the lake can be dangerous - if you do, be sure to head back by 1pm. Gates open from 7am to 11pm. There is no cell phone reception at Chilliwack Lake, so ensure that you have everything you need before you arrive.
