The Hope Slough is a local favourite in the spring, providing a low-key alternative for kayaking compared to more tourist heavy areas. Paddle through narrow waterways, pass under bridges and take in views of the Cheam Range.
Stretching 16 kilometers from Rosedale to Fairfield Island, the Hope Slough is a tranquil paddling destination on the Chilliwack Blueways. Ideal for those seeking a quieter and more private experience away from the crowds, the Hope Slough provides a unique and immersive experience.
Kayaking on the Hope Slough
Paddling the slough is best during the spring when water levels are high. There are seven launch points where you can park and get access to the water trail, including Reeves Road, Kinsmen Park and Scouts Hall. Be sure to paddle upstream for a smoother and easier ride back. Paddling upstream takes you to Rosedale Park, and paddling downstream will take you as far as Hope River Corbould Park. In between, you will pass Kinsmen Park, which provides easy access with a wide gravel entry, and a bridge from which you can watch paddlers pass below.
Blueways can take paddlers through a variety of waterways, including lakes, rivers, sloughs, and canals and have become increasingly popular in recent years. The Hope Slough is one of the six Blueways in Chilliwack.
